What is SomaPsych?

As a 30+ years licensed bodyworker, I combine the modalities and techniques of Craniosacral Therapy and massage therapy with low-dose plant medicines. With your explicit informed consent to touch, we can safely delve into the long-held traumas that your body holds.
Short for Somatic Psychedelics, SomaPsych bodywork is a holistic approach that combines somatic principles with plant medicine to facilitate deep healing. This modality acknowledges the body's role in storing trauma and utilizes body-centered techniques to release and integrate these experiences.
Start with a 90 minute session before adding plant medicines so that we ensure we're a good fit and gain insight into the state of your body. If we're a great fit, we can schedule a four hour SomaPsych session.

Personalized Sessions: Each session is tailored to your unique needs, focusing on areas where trauma is held in the body.

Integration Support: Guidance on incorporating insights from psychedelic experiences into daily life. With our bodies keeping much of the score, delving into its wisdom is crucial.

Safe Environment: A nurturing space that encourages vulnerability and authentic expression.

Benefits:

  • Trauma Release: Facilitates the release of stored trauma through body awareness, touch and movement.

  • Enhanced Self-Awareness: Promotes a deeper connection between mind and body.

  • Emotional Regulation: Assists in managing emotions by recognizing bodily cues.

  • Spiritual Growth: Supports the integration of profound psychedelic experiences.

  • While beneficial for many, it's essential to discuss your specific needs during a consultation to ensure it's the right fit. Plant medicines should be respectfully incorporated at the right time.

  • Not necessarily, SomaPsych Bodywork is designed to work with low dosage of medicine. The focus here is the bodywork. Medicine is the tool. However, if you’ve never experienced the benefit of psychedelics then some preparation will be required.

  • The initial session helps establish trust, consent, safety, and a clearer understanding of your needs. It also gives us a chance to see how your body responds to touch-based somatic work before moving into a longer SomaPsych session.

  • No. SomaPsych is not psychotherapy, medical care, or a substitute for licensed mental health treatment. It is a complementary, body-centered healing practice that may work alongside other forms of support when appropriate.

  • SomaPsych may not be appropriate for everyone. Certain physical or mental health conditions, medications, or personal circumstances may make this work unsuitable or call for other forms of support first. These considerations can be discussed during the consult or first session.

  • Yes. Integration is central to SomaPsych. The goal is not simply to have an intense experience, but to help what arises become meaningful, embodied, and useful in your actual life.
